This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

1870's Bustle Era Striped Outfit
From the seller:
This auction is for an original lady's high-style bustle Reception Dress from around 1875. Whatever you could possibly want in a bustle dress, you'll find in this one! Lace, Buttons, bows, fringe, jet, ruffles...you name it! It's an excellent example of High Victorian glamour! Use it for inspiration for your own period ensemble! Please note the brooch is not included.
Condition: There is wear to thew blue stripes, breakdown to the silk under the arms and at the opening in the skirt back. It can be displayed to minimize these issues. One missing button and a missing lace cuff. Still strong enough for display and Inspiration!
Measurements : bust- 37 inches, waist- 29 inches, front length- 38 inches
From Me:
I love that it's a larger size as well as the fantastic beading along the bottom. See, ladies? You don't need a ton of trim to make an impact.
Such great details in this one!
ReplyDeleteIt really just looks smart - nothing too frothy or over the top. Just a few cool details to make the outfit stand out a bit.
