This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

1860's Plaid Goodness
From the seller:
A graceful 1860’s Civil War era mauve and green plaid silk one piece dress. The sleeves are trimmed with a pleated ruffle and silk bow. The neck, armscyes and waist are piped. The bodice is lined with cotton and has a front button closure. The buttons are covered with green silk. The skirt is trimmed with green silk fringe. The skirt is fully lined with cotton. The dress is in very good and sturdy condition. There is no underarm discoloration and no splits or holes in the fabric. There is some minor age spotting on the bodice lining. Bust 32 Waist 23 Skirt length 40 Width at hemline 138. Items have not been cleaned unless otherwise stated.
From Me:
I know, only one picture, but it's too lovely to just ignore.
With that line of trimming and flat skirt front, it's got to be just post-war. I like the green... I wish we could see the sleeve trim better.
