This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Men's Slippers Mid 19th Century
From the seller:
An exceptional pair of man’s antique 1860’s Berlin work slippers. The last name Gorham is hand written inside the slippers. The background color is a vivid orange. The flowers are worked in shades of blue, white, lilac, red and pink and golden shafts of wheat. The slippers are lined with linen and leather. They have a 1 inch heel. The slippers are in excellent condition and appear to have never been worn. Length 12 inches Width 4 inches.
From Me:
I half think these are a decade earlier but there are some details that are throwing me off so I'll go with the 1860's for now.
That bright blue dye is Azuline, introduced about 1863.
ReplyDeleteAzuline was introduced around 1860/1861.
