Black Edwardian Dinner Gown

From the seller:

Late 1800's through early 1900's two-piece evening gown is made out of black silk with elegant sequined and beaded lace appliques. Blouson bodice has elbow-length sleeves with sequined cuffs, ornate lace around round neckline, and center back hook and eye closures. A-line skirt is floor-length, has vertical pintucked bands that are interrupted at varied intervals with heavily sequined appliques, wide pleated ruffle at hem that forms a train in the back, and center back hook and eye closures. Both pieces are lined.

CONDITION: Excellent with some areas in the netting on the bodice that need to be stabilized. There is one tear in the bodice lining. 12" of additional black fabric was added to the bodice to allow for it to be easily tucked in. Due to the delicate nature of this garment, it was not cleaned. Additional photographs available upon request.
MATERIAL: Silk, Netting, Lace, Sequins
COLOR: Black
MEASUREMENTS: Please compare the measurements listed below to a garment that fits you well. These measurements were taken with the garment lying flat, and when appropriate, doubled to calculate the circumference.

From Me:

I decided to combine three auctions into one post since all three are from the same seller and most likely from the same estate. I think the black pair of socks might actually be 19th C but the other two are 18th C, if not earlier. We tend to focus so much on the gowns and outfits, we forget about things like stockings!

Knitted American Civil War Bonnet!

From the seller:

A sweet 1860’s Civil War era bright red wool hand knitted bonnet.  The bonnet has long side lappets.  It is trimmed with black wool edging and has a diamond pattern on the crown that is done with black.   The bonnet might have been used for skating.  It is in very good condition.  There are no holes.

From Me:

How cool!  I think I need to make this.  It looks like a very simple design in using a large sized knitting needle.  And I have a ton of red yarn...hmm...
