This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Late Victorian Era Stockings
From the seller:
A very pretty pair of embroidered Victorian cotton stockings. The embroidery has a floral pattern in shades of two tone blue and a touch of red. They are stamped on the toes with a number 9. The stockings are in very good condition. There are no holes and just a few small age spots. Length 24 Foot 9 inches.
From Me:
I think seller meant that the overall length is 24 inches and that the foot part is 9". ;-) Based on the embroidery style, I think these are from the 1880's/1890's but I'm really not sure.

Shoes: 9" long
Condition:
Overall-Please note that this dress has some problems, however I feel the wonderful design would make a great example. Also, the veil and train are quite strong making them very usable.
Dress-very fragile, holes in the chiffon, some stains, lining is shattered (see photo)
Veil-wax flowers some florets are slightly broken, netting and lace is in very good shape
Train-some staining, small holes in chiffon, satin is in good shape, overall the fabric feels very strong
Shoes-satin is worn with small wear spots
Hosiery-small holes
*Please note that I have additional photo's available upon request.
From Me:
This is so terribly lovely. I hope whoever won this auction knows better than to "re-use" the pieces. It's very much a late teens into the early 1920's dress - probably right at 1918-1919.

From Me:
I decided to combine three auctions into one post since all three are from the same seller and most likely from the same estate. I think the black pair of socks might actually be 19th C but the other two are 18th C, if not earlier. We tend to focus so much on the gowns and outfits, we forget about things like stockings!
