A striking 1865 dark taupe/gray silk gown that was originally worn by Ann O’Meany. Her name and the date are written on a tag that is attached to the waist. The bodice has full pagoda style sleeves and a wide waist peplum. The neck, sleeves cuffs and peplum are trimmed with taupe silk fringe. The bodice is lined with cotton and has a front button closure. The skirt hemline is trimmed with three ruffles. The edge of the hemline is lined with cotton. The dress is in very good and sturdy condition. There is mild underarm discoloration. There are a couple of very small holes in the skirt and two nickel size spots at the edge of the bottom ruffle on the skirt. Bust 34 Waist 22. The jacket is loose fitting in the front. Skirt length 40 Width at hemline 138 inches.

This would be at the very end of the American Civil War but, still, a great dress from that era.
