I love 1915 fashions and I'm sure this extant dress is from about there. They have almost a Gunne Sax 1970's look to them - which is probably where Gunne Sax took inspiration from!

Late Victorian Floral Print Dress

From the seller:

Antique Victorian Day Dress 2 pieces Blouse Hoop Skirt XS Floral Cotton
Antique Victorian Day Dress

This is a Antique Victorian Day Dress. It's a beautiful floral print accented with purple that I believe is silk. It's a very small size so please see measurements below. It has been hand stitched and the skirt is very full so it accommodates a hoop. The high neckline is finished with the purple ribbon. The modesty panel has eye/hook closures behind it. The skirt is lined and there is a velvet banding that goes around the bottom perimeter of the skirt along with something that is inserted in between the fabric and lining. I suppose it is to add weight to the bottom of the skirt (it's 7" in height). Gathered pleating at back of skirt, Ruffle with lace at bottom and the same ruffle with lace is at the end of each sleeve. Please take a look at my other antique and vintage clothing and accessories. Combined shipping is offered.

Condition: tiny holes throughout the dress and top.

Approximate Measurements

Shoulders: 11-1/4" across (22-1/2")

Bust: 15" across (30")

Waist: 9" across (18")

Blouse: 17" long measured at neckline to back of bottom

Skirt Length: 42"

From Me:

A hoop was so far out of style by the point this dress was being worn it would be like wearing your hot pink plastic charm necklace with your crimped hair and a modern 2010's flared hoodie sweater dress. It just does not work.

Instead, they used petticoats. :-)

The flared fluffy sleeve caps over the real sleeves are a very 1897 thing. I love the print - it looks like something you'd find in a thrift store or like Mom's old kitchen curtains. Vintage, but not antique.

Lovely Ivory Natural Form Ball Gown

From the seller:

1877-82 TRAINED MOIRE SILK BUSTLE 2-PIECE BALL GOWN MUSEUM DE-ACCESSIONED WITH LOVELY LONG TRAIN

This is an attractive ball gown of the 1877-82 period, that a mid to upper class woman would wear. A regal IVORY silk moire 2 PIECE bustled and trained ball gown de-accessioned from the Rochester historical museum in New York state. The gown still retains it's original Museum ID identification catalog tags, sewn inside as well as string tags.

The bodice is lined with ivory silk and still retains all its original front buttons, and has 10 whale bone baleen stays. The bodice's underarms have heavy discoloration and needs to be replaced with gussets. Lace around armhole has detached in many places and has damage. The neck line's pleated organdy is unstable and has many holes and rips. The organdy has a running satin ribbon gathering. Bodice has sewn in tags as well as written on fabric, on inner neckline with museum's catalog idenification numbers.

The skirt has a side pocket and closes by hooks and eyes at the back and gathers with pleats in the back for a nice fall and trained skirt ties in back. The rear puff enhances the outfit nicely. The skirt is lined with a heavy stiff gauze and ties to adjust the bustle effect. The skirt is in very good condition with no repairs, holes or stains. The skirt has sewn in tags as well as written on fabric, on inner waist band with museum's catalog idenification numbers.

BODICE: Bust 34", Waist 21-1/2",
Shoulder to waist 17",
Across shoulder 11-3/4"

SKIRT: Front skirt length 43" Back length 60", waist 21"

Condition: The SKIRT is in very good condition, the BODICE is in fair condition.

A truly grand display dress/gown or for study or for display.

I have listed many other antique dresses in my ebay store.

I'm putting this more to the 1876/1877 side of the Natural Form Era.
