Black Floral 1890's Dress

From the seller:

Here is a beautiful original silk 2 pc day dress from the Victorian Era.. Bodice ,jacket is boned and has hook and eyes to close all the way up to the collar.. In perfect shape just the cuffs have been opened at the seem.. not sure why.. Skirt is plain , but a double small ruffle at the bottom of the skirt.. This dress is in extremely good wearable condition..
No rips or tears seen.. No smells.. Clean

Bust 26 1/2"
Waist 27"
Base of neck down to bottom of jacket 18" (excluding collar)
under arm to end cuff 17"

From Me:

I love the peek a boo red hints on this dress. It's just enough to give it a dash of color. However, there is no such thing as "wearable condition" with a 120+ year old dress. Sorry, but no.

Based on the sleeve size and the trimming on the bodice, I believe this to be from 1897~.

Late 1830's Ice Blue Dress

From the seller:

A stunning 1840’s changeable ice blue satin ball gown. The dress is all hand stitched There is no discoloration just shadows created by the camera flash. The fabric has a stylized floral pattern. The short sleeves are trimmed with knife pleated ruffles and ice blue silk bows. The round neckline, armscyes and waist are all piped. The bodice is lined with cotton and has stitched in bust enhancements. The dress has a back hook and eye closure. The hooks are old but the eyes are latter period replacements. The skirt is unlined. The dress is in excellent and sturdy condition. There are a couple of tiny spots on one ribbon bow, a very small area of light underarm discoloration and one tiny hole on the front of the skirt. Bust 36 Waist 26 Front length from shoulder to hem 52 Back length 55.

The sleeves, the wide boatneck line neckline, even the tiny butt bow are all consistent with the late 1830's.

Sunny Yellow Early Bustle Dress and Ball Gown Bodice

From the seller:

A brilliant yellow silk three piece 1865-1870 day and evening bodice with matching bustled overskirt. The day bodice has piped neckline, armscyes and waist. It is lined with cotton and has a yellow silk covered front button closure. The evening bodice has short cap sleeve that are trimmed with pleated yellow silk. It has a back lacing closure and is lined with cotton. The lacing is original to the bodice. The neck, armsyces and waist are piped. The overskirt hemline is trimmed with pleated yellow silk. The back is gathered into a bustle effect. The overskirt is lined with buckram. All of the pieces are in very good and sturdy condition. There is 1 dime size sot on the front of the day bodice and some stress wear near the back neckline. There is no underarm discoloration. The evening bodice has light underarm discoloration. There is a dime size spot on the back of the bustled area on the overskirt. This ensemble would look best worn over an ivory silk or organdy underskirt. Measurements for bodices: Bust 30 Waist 22. Overskirt front length 27 Back length 35.

From Me:

This dress was probably originally made in 1866 and redone slightly in 1868 to keep up with the changing fashions.

1866 Fashion Plate
In 1866, you still see the point on ball gown bodices, but this goes away by 1869. However, the overskirt shape is more in keeping with 1868.

From Me:

1874 Fashion Plate

High necked dresses with contrasting (or sometimes plain white) collars were seen in the 1870's. (Really, I posted the fashion plate because there is a "Ginsie" dog in it!) The basque waist is pretty much a hallmark of the 1870's.

Mid 1860's Blue and Gold Striped Bodice

From the seller:

A visually stunning civil War era Bodice made of mustard and blue striped silk and trends with blue silk rouching. Lined and boned. The bodice hook and eyes up the front and is a combination of hand and early machine stitching. One inch Area under the armpit that needs to be resewn. Very light staining that I had to look hard to see. Overall good vintage condition. Buyer to pay shipping at cost. Please view our other items for more Victorian clothing.

From Me:

1864 Fashion Plate

Most likely 1864/1865; so the tail end of the American Civil War. Of course, when I see blue and gold together, all I can think is "Go Navy! Beat Army!" as that has been ingrained in me since I was a few days old...

Child's Natural Form Plaid Dress

From the seller:

Rare child's bustle 1880's gown. This looks a lot like the original civil War era boy's skirt and bodice set and I suspect this is also for a young boy toddler but could also be for a girl. Lovely patriotic red and blue wool challis and trimmed in blue silk and lace. Mother of pearl buttons decorate the sleeves and military style back. Overall fair vintage condition. Lots of holes but displays well. One button missing in the back bodice. A pleasing rare gown that displays well in beautiful colors. Buyer to pay shipping at cost. Please view our other items for more Victorian clothing.

I agree with the seller that this could either be for a boy or a girl. I believe it's from about 1876/1877 by the looks of it.
