From Me:

Well, it's not late Victorian as the seller believes, but early Teen's Era. This is more something you'd expect to see worn on the Titanic than anywhere else.   Granted, the high necklines were a quickly dying breed when you hit the 1910s, but some ladies still preferred them.  In the fashion plate below, the lady in the upper middle right still has a high neckline.   They were most common on older ladies.

From the seller:

Here is an Antique Embroidered Linen Bustle Dress 2 pieces that include bovine buckles at sleeves and at back of waist see photos.  The long coat/jacket is partially lined with a hand stitched tag that reads "Mrs. John Conzelman" Hand stitched with fabric buttons down the front and metal hook closure at waist.  The skirt also has metal hook closures.  Overall very good vintage condition with some stains/spots/age patina discoloration underarms, a couple of tiny pinhole sized holes at skirt waist with an open seam see photos.  The bustle is pinned in a couple of places at back of jacket/coat and needs stitching as well as the self belt needs attention such as replacing the hook/eye closures. There are some holes/wear along the pleated bottom edge of the skirt along with some dirt stains. From an estate in found condition.  Please see pictures for details and e-mail with any questions. Thanks for looking.

Approx. Measurements Lying Flat: Please compare measurements with a piece of clothing that fits you to get an accurate fit.

Top measures 19" from underarm to underarm, 16" sleeve from underarm to edge of sleeve opening, 14" from shoulder seam to shoulder seam and 45" long from top of shoulder down front to bottom edge as it is longer in the back.

Skirt measure 13" across waist, 25" across hips and 44" long from waist to bottom edge and is longer down back of skirt.

From Me:

I'm hesitant to post this one and I'm not sure it is antique. There are aspects of it that look more like "Hollywood Old West" movie set outfit that an actual antique gown. However, the cut itself, complete with the off center belt buckle, is pretty consistent with 1884 fashions.  ...Even if the trim does look like something I just bought at Jomar...

Perfect Edwardian Easter Dress

From the seller:

The most beautiful antique victorian sheer printed gauze two piece gown.  Pretty pink roses with green stems and leaves. Ruffles along the bottom of the skirt's hem, along the collar in tiers and and the cuffs.  Romantic balloon sleeves.  Ruffles are trimmed in pink silk ribbon.  Ruched waist, sleeves and along the neckline.  Bodice is lined in white cotton.  So rare to find a great print like this from so long ago.
Some slight discoloration in a couple places.  Small tear on bodice, and on skirt.
Bust: 30"
Waist: 22" -- has a lot of fabric on top of interior corset so can be worn if a bigger size
Shoulder to shoulder: 24"
Sleeve length: 19 1/2"
Bodice length: 17"
Skirt length: 39"

From Me:

1904 Fashion Plate

Just like the gown in the fashion plate, this extant one as the quarter length billowing sleeves, the ridiculous but lovely ruffles around the shoulders and neck, and does not have the mock turtleneck neckline that we typically find in the 1890's/1900's. I love the rose print and just how spring this dress is.

Early Victorian Quilted Petticoat

From the seller:

Excellent condition to this white cotton quilted petticoat. The designs are well executed, the cotton is crisp and strong.
The waistband has been professionally replaced, is 100% cotton, and was attached by hand, with evenly spaced gathers all the way around the waist, it fastens with two antique milk glass buttons in back.
The quilting goes all the way up to the waist, with the more complicated designs starting at about the hip area, plainer, horizontal stitches just below the waist.
All the sewing is hand. It measures 27 1/4" around at the waist, it's 35 1/4" long, including the crochet.
There is one side seam which seems to be original, as does the crochet edging.
There are one or two light spots, some light storage discoloration. The fabric is crisp and strong, there are no holes, thin, or weak areas. 1830's-50's, with the waistband about 20 years old.

From Me:

This just looks painful to me. Not to wear, but to do all that sewing by hand. :-)  It reminds me of this blue petticoat at the MET.

Child's Edwardian Insertion Lace Dress

From the seller:

This is a darling, sheer, lightweight Edwardian girls dress. In a Gibson Girl style, it has a high collar, yoke at the neck, exaggerated "pouffed" silhouette at the front.
The waist is dropped, the skirt is flared, both skirt and yoke are scalloped and decorated with floral embroidery. The yoke also has a couple of rows of French knots.
There are embroidered and lace inserts, it buttons at the back.
It's 22 3/4" long, in front. it's 25 1/2" at the waist, 27" at the bust, without expanding the pleating. The waist needs a ribbon or belt for a finished look.
Very good condition, with a small tear just below the opening in back, below the waist. I don't see any other holes or other damage. C1905.
International bidders might be charged VAT, customs, postal or delivery duties, in addition to my own shipping charges. Please contact your post or customs office if you have questions about these charges.

From Me:

Gibson Girl refers to the ladies of the Turn of the Century who perfected the messy bun - mostly in their 20's. The exaggerated poof is called a pigeon front.

1905 Fashion Plate

Notice the young girl the upper left corner of the fashion plate.  The style of dress is very similar to the extant one.
