Three Mid 1860's Bodices

From the seller:

An enchanting group of 3 Civil War era silk bodices. The first bodice is made of gold floral satin brocade fabric. The bodice is decorated with bands of tan satin. The front has a faux lacing and wide three tier lapels. The bodice is lined with linen. The back hooks and eyes are missing. There is a dime size age mark on the front of the bodice and a quarter size surface only hole near the back closing. Bust 32 Waist 24. The second bodice is made of blue and white silk plaid fabric. It has full pagoda style sleeves. The bodice is lined with linen and has a front hook and eye closure. There is mild underarm discoloration and some light soiling on the inside neck line area. Bust 33 Waist 28. The last bodice is made of light plum silk. It has short tulip styled sleeves. It is lined with cotton and has a back lacing closure. The back lacing is missing. There is a bit of light soiling on the inside lining. Bust 32 Waist 24.

From Me:

I think the red one and the gold one are from both just after the American Civil War - or at least the tail end. The very cool pieced sleeves of the blue bodice though - that's Civil War era. Actually, the bodice is probably another 1850's remade in the 1860's bodices.

Simple but Sweet 1840's Summer Dress

From the seller:

A charming 1840’s light yellow printed cotton dress. The dress is all hand stitched. The fabric has a tan swirl pattern. The front of the bodice has a padded bust line and center piping. The shoulders, neckline armscyes and waist are all piped. The bodice is lined with linen and has a back hook and eye closure. The skirt is attached to the waist with tight cartridge pleating. The skirt is unlined except for a band of cotton at the edge of the hemline. The dress is in very good condition. The dress has not been cleaned. There is some scattered age spotting mostly to the edge of the hemline. (See photos.) There are a few pencil tip size holes in the skirt and one period mend on the edge of the hemline. There is one small period mend under one arm. A delightful display dress. Bust 31 Waist 23 Skirt length 38.

From Me:

Despite it being really simple, I sort of like it. I'd add a sash around the waist for a pop of color.

Another off topic post

I've recently posted a few of my own collection for sale on ebay. Pictures of these items are below and more information on each of them is available through the link. Unfortunately, the doctors bills are starting to pile up (kidney stones are not fun) so I need to sell a few items. I might post a couple of more items later this week. I also have a few pieces of garb and costumes up on etsy.
