I think this is actually early 1930's, rather than 1920's. Very cute either way!

1920's/1930's Butterfly Costume

From the seller:

This gorgeous little butterfly costume is handmade and most likely done in the early 20's. It's in excellent condition and ready to wear. The costume includes a little insect body-suit with wings that attach to the child's wrist with self ties. The costume includes a matching beanie style hat with antenna that are woven with metallic thread. The appliques appear to be made from heavy rayon crepe fabric, probably left over from another project and repurposed. Whimsical creatures, sprites and the like, insects were popular themes from the Edwardian period through the 1920s. This antique butterfly costume should be used and enjoyed today.

I have another 1920s children's butterfly costumes that I will be auctioning in the next week, if you like antique costumes, please check back.

From Me:

Does anyone else see this and think "MOTHMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"?

Cute Halloween Printed 1920's Dress

From the seller:

Early 1930's or late 20's vintage Halloween dress or costume, made from Halloween patterned cotton. Fabric design features witches on brooms, bats, pumpkins, cats! Wonderful vintage dress to wear for your next Halloween party. Would be great with a vintage witch's hat (or the one provided with the dress), Victorian shoes and black cotton stockings. I'll be listing a few other vintage beauties from my Halloween collection this month.

1920's Homemade Witch's Outfit

From the seller:

This is the crème del la crème of my collection. I've seen this fabric once before, it is a very rare pattern and as you can see, very, very detailed. It resembles some of the teens and 1920s Halloween crepe paper. Late 20's, maybe very early 1930s vintage Halloween dress or costume. This is made from Halloween patterned cotton. Fabric design features witches, jack-o-lanterns, devils with pitchfork, bats, moons, spiders with webs, witch's cauldron with fire, owls. Wonderful vintage dress to wear for your next Halloween party. Would be great with a vintage witch's hat (or the one provided with the dress), Victorian shoes and black cotton stockings. I'll be listing a few other vintage beauties from my Halloween collection this month. I still have a butterfly to list this week, trying to locate it so I can get photos taken. The starting cost of this costume reflects/protects my original investment, sorry I can't start it lower.

Lavender Edwardian Dress

From the seller:

* ANTIQUE VICTORIAN LADIES LONG DRESS *

~ HIGHLY EMBELLISHED ~

~HAND STITCHED EMBROIDERY NEEDLE WORK~

Lavender silky fabric & creamy white lace work

I must say that this dress is something !

The elaborate hand stitched embroidery needle work done in a soft grey pearl cotton is really quite stunning--

I believe the fabric is silk...but I am not totally sure-it is a bit heavier than the silk I know

Everything about this dress is well made and beautiful

It does come with a couple of flaws that I have tried to capture-

The two little pin size holes near the waist on the back of the dress

The hole at the bottom right side of the "over dress" area of the front of the dress

Also the two large tassels by the waist...I just placed them there...It appears to have been a belt--there are remnants of a belt on the ends that matched the dress fabric

The sleeves are embellished with hand stitching on the front the backside of the sleeves are heavily pleated and made out of a lavender mesh fabric--they are also darted in the elbow area...3 hook & eye closures at the wrist on each sleeve

The back side of the dress also has an over dress "so to speak" edged with a row of tiny lavender balls

The center back of the dress sports matching hand stitched design on an attached "sash" long piece of fabric with the ends of long rich brown in color tassels.

The front & back bodice of the dress has a "V" lace insert that matches the front side design Closures for the dress are hook and eye & snaps

dress is open & closed from the left side

The bodice is darted from front to back & is lined with a creamy white silky fabric that has hook & eye closures

Bodice also has sewn in "stays" or is boned

Very Wide Hand stitched lapels with matching design

There is an attached Under slip that is a lavender silky fabric with pleated bottom and this has deteriorated in places (shown)

The entire dress appears to be HAND SEWN !

Approximate measurements

Sleeve--22

Waist--15" (one way across)

Bust--18" (one way across)

Length--53"

From Me:

Probably about 1908 or so...

Very Early 1930's Peach Dress

From the seller:

I recently pulled this little beauty out of the basement. My intent was to sell her as is, but after close examination it was clear to me that whoever made this dress, put a whole lot of love into her. That said I decided to clean her up and make a few mends. The dress is made of silk chiffon crepe. The bodice is lined in a burnt orange nylon acetate (fluid and strong) and at some point the skirt lining was cut away. I finished off the cut edge. The dress pulls over the head with hook and eye closures at the top of the left shoulder and down the left side. Beautiful glass prong rhinestone trim along the neck edge with sheered chiffon smocking along the front. The skirt has a high low cut. There are two layers. The main underskirt is straight and the top layer is a full circle of flowing chiffon that attaches at points all the way around with a lovely poppy flower embellishment. Rare larger size. No reserve!

*I pictured the dress on Manny with a nude half slip

Measurements: Bust: 38" Waist: 32" Hips: 37 -38" Overall Length Front: 50" / Overall Length Back: 62"

Condition: Excellent. Very solid dress and totally wearable. A few tiny flea bites here and there. Minimal. Mainly they are under the front upper bodice. They are small and completely concealed by the fringe. See pic. A couple of spots along the lower edge. See pic. One stone missing at the end of the trim, top of the left shoulder. Slight underarm. This dress is STUNNING and truly one of a kind.

*Dress is clean and ready to party!

From Me:

I think this is probably about 1931/1932 rather than late 20's. Although it still has the drop waist of the 1920's, you can see the bias cut and back neckline most reminiscent of the 1930's.
