Fabulous Beaded Black 1920's Dress

A Rarity rare find 1920s Berthe gown French couture black net black jet beading over black satin underneath the net beading .Dress slips over the head, side snap closures on the side of dress.Black net no color the pink you see is from the taffeta mat I used underneath the dress for photos .

Dress sold as is with noted flaws

Condition ther are a few spots of discoloration to the black satin underneath on the satin as shown in photos ,a few tiny holes in net, a few loose beads which are on the threads. There are some jet beads in the box which may have come from the sleeve area of dress.

Black and White Edwardian Era Dress

Antique Late 1800s Civil War Period Dress w/ Parasol
A lovely, 2 piece, Civil War period dress made with light checkerboard silk fabric trimmed with black velvet ribbon. It is lined with cotton. It uses hooks and eyes. The fabric is delicate with some wearing, especially at the waist. It can be reinforced with some Stitchery Witchery mesh backing. It is very clean and can be used as great display piece, re-enactment or period movie or play. The measurements are:

Shoulder to Shoulder 13"
Waist 27"
Chest 34"
Skirt Length 39"
Jacket Length 19"
Sleeve length 19"
Comes with a white silk parasol. The paint is wearing and there is a very, very mild stain on the fabric.

Last time I checked, the American Civil War was in the mid-1800's, not late. Either way, this dress is from either period. It is from the 1900's and I LOVE that collar and cuffs! The parasol most likely isn't Edwardian - it looks far newer to me than that.

Late Edwardian Lace Dress

From the seller:

An exquisite 1912 Edwardian net lace and Irish lace dress. The net lace has a small floral stripe pattern. The bodice has a high neck insert. The bodice is decorated with Irish lace flowers and crocheted balls. The waist is trimmed with ecru silk and back streamers. There is a row of Irish lace flowers on one side of the skirt that extends from the waist to the hemline. The skirt is trimmed with crochets balls and a large ecru silk ribbon bow. It has a long back sweep. The dress is lined with silk and has a back hook and eye closure. The dress is in very good condition. There are two dime size holes in the high neck insert and splits in the lining under the arms. There are no other holes or age discolorations. Bust 32 Waist 24 Front skirt length 38 Back length 49.

From Me:

This is earlier than 1912, based upon the waistline and neckline. You can still see a hint of that pigeon breast as well. Maybe 1907?

Late Teens Era Floral Hat

From the seller:

Fancy floral decorated hat dating to the late teens, early 1920's. Made up in a navy straw with broad velvet hat band. Lined in black silk with pale peach chiffon on inner brim. In fair to good vintage as found condition with some fray and loss's to the floral's, small split to chiffon inner brim and a bit of age related dust. Measures approx. 6" high, 12" diameter from side to side and 11" front to back, with approx. 21-22" interior circumference.

I think this is more late teens due to the overall shape of the hat.

Fabulous 1830's Shoes

From the seller:

A classic pair of 1830’s cotton straight shoes for study. The shoes are made of white cotton and bound with white silk. They have a sided tie closing. The lacing is missing on both shoes. The shoes are lined with linen. They are in sturdy condition. There is over all soiling on both shoes. (See photos.) Length 9 ½ Width 3 inches.

Lovely Seaside (?) Bustle Era Dress

From the seller:

Beautiful Victorian one-piece tea gown to be worn over a bustle. It is made of cotton lawn, and the bodice is lined with a fine cotton. It fastens at the left side of the front with 16 brass hooks, which fit into embroidered eyes. The hooks may be replacements as they look in such good condition. There are 3 strips of broderie anglaise all down the front, with ruched fabric in between, and the hem all round is trimmed with broderie anglaise. The waist is slightly gathered at each side of the front. The back is shaped as shown, and has 6 wide pintucks which extend from the neck to the part which would fit over the bustle. The cuffs are trimmed with broderie anglaise, which can be folded in two different ways (see photos). The back of the dress is much longer than the front forming a train. There are various concealed ties inside the skirt at the back to give the billowing effect of the fabric, and I have shown different effects depending on how tightly or loosely they are tied. The bodice of the dress is lined in a fine white cotton, but not the skirt.


The dress appears to be entirely handstitched.


In some of the photographs I have used a large bustle underneath, and in others a smaller one. I think the smaller one may be more authentic for the period. These bustles are not included in the auction. In some of the photos the dress is shown reaching the floor all round, and in others I have used a longer petticoat underneath, a few inches of which can be seen beneath the hem at the front, making the outfit suitable for a taller person. I am not entirely sure which way is correct. The petticoats and also the hat are not included in this auction.

Wonderful Blue Plaid/Checkered Post- American Civil War Dress

From the seller:

A nice antique dress from the civil war.
(It has probably, like most of these old dresses, been adapted, altered and repaired later in the 19 th century).
The fabric is a tender blue / green / cream (probably) silk /wool blend.
It is all hand sewn and completely lined with cotton.
The front closes with (hidden) hooks.
Fake buttons, covered with matching silk, have been added for decoration
There are several little tears over the skirt, as well as some light staining to the lower front skirt pannel, but all this well hidden in the pattern (see last picture).
The top has one major tear on the right shoulder (see picture 9),
a piece near the waist (were a hook has probably caused damage ) and needs a repair to the first hook/eye near the neck.
The fabric is beautiful, the sleeves and pattern interesting,
it will be lovely to display, but with a little care it could be wearable again (it will also need a larger underskirt than the one I used for the pictures)
size: waist- about 26"
chest- about 30"
length of bodice: about 15 1/2" - length of skirt: about 41"

I've been waiting to post this dress for almost a month! I love that it is very country looking but still quite lovely. Can you imagine the bonnet that went with this? The dress is probably post American Civil War based upon the sleeves, waist height, and the gathers towards the back.
