Little Girl's 1870's Natural Form Era Dress, WOW!

From the seller:

A truly magnificent young ladies 1850-1860 orange/red and tan wool two piece dress. The dress is hand stitched. The bodice is elaborately designed with rows of ruching on the front and back. The neckline and armscyes are trimmed with ruffles. The bodice is also highlighted with rows of orange/red and tan padded cording. The two front pockets are trimmed with decorative buttons. The back has a hidden red satin button closure and the outer fabric id trimmed with decorative buttons. The bodice is lined with cotton. The skirt has alternating ruffles of orange/red and tan. The skirt is lined with polished cotton. The dress is in very good condition. There is no age spotting, no underarm discoloration and only one tiny moth nip at the top of the skirt near the waist area. There is a loose seam on the back of the skirt near the waist that will need minor re-stitching. A rare and wonderful Antebellum period dress. Bust 30 Waist 28 Skirt length 28 Width at hemline 84.

From Me:

I have no idea why the seller thinks this is from the 1850's. The elongated waistline, the gathered rows, the slight "fullness" to the back all indicate 1870's - 1876-1878 really. Although on an older girl and not quite the same style you can see the front of the pink striped dress is very similar to the front of this extant one.

Teens Era Summer Dress

From the seller:

This item

consists of this very special, rare, Edwardian (1902 -1919) full length dress. It was purchased along with other pieces from a great niece of a prominent New York family. There are several pieces from this estate that were never worn. This is one of them. There is another very special piece I have another very special piece listed right now. This could be a museum piece, wedding dress or as they call it in that era, a lawn or tea dress. It was made over 100 years ago, but looks and feels like it was made yesterday. The dress is very high quality and made by an expert seamstress. It is a white linen and is embellished with very fancy floral embroidery. The embroidery makes this dress so exceptional. It surrounds the neck, covers the bosom, back and runs down front, back and sides of this dress. I have inspected the embroidery over and over and I can find no flaws. It has fancy, delicate rows of floral design, so detailed and so very feminine. I took many photo's to best describe this dress. Every detail is shown to you. Look the photo's over carefully. My manniquin is small and petite and only half a woman. The dress is approximately medium to medium large. Take this into consideration when viewing the photo's. Just imagine how it would look on a real woman! Wow!

1860's American Civil War Era Blue Dress

From the seller:

D584, 1860's Civil War Era 2 Pc Blue Dress: This dress from the Civil War era is made of a blue taffeta that is actually darker than the photos. It has a waist of 24, a bust of 31, shoulders of 18, waist of skirt 24, length is 41 and it is 176 inches around the bottom. This dress is in rough condition. It is more for design: however, with some clever accessories like the black Chantilly lace shawl we are selling in another auction it would also make a nice display. If you learn to hide the issues that antique clothing have you can make a wonderful display of garments that are not in the best of condition. The bodice is in very ruff shape. Two button holes have worn through, there is wear to the lining, a three inch tear from the top straight down at the back neckline, it is missing buttons and has horrible under arm tears and stains. The buttons are rusted. The bodice also has staining. I had to pin the skirt to the dress form because of the wear, damage and issues with the waist band. The skirt has stains throughout but I don't find any holes. It has one seam that needs five inches sewn back up, there are four places on the waist band that need to be reinforced, repaired or covered. There is a 4 inch seam at the bottom of the skirt that has come loose. As you can see this dress looks like it was well loved and worn. The bidding is starting at .99 with no reserve. Check out our other auctions.

From Me:

What a beauty this must have been in it's day!

Teens Era Summer Dress

From the seller:

This lovely Edwardian dress is made from a soft ivory netting and has an old Lord and Taylor label. The bodice snaps down the front, and is trimmed with tucks, embroidery and narrow ruffles. The skirt has 2 tiers of wide ruffles and the skirt is lined with another layer of netting. There's a couple of pin head holes in the netting that are no larger than 1 - 2 broken threads, skirt has a couple of small, very light spots that should soak out, it does have a small lace applique near the hem that was probably sewn over a mend. It measures 37 inches around the bust, waist is 25 inches, hips are 41 inches, across the back shoulder is 14 1/2 inches and waist to hem is 33 3/4 inches long. Excellent vintage condition.

From Me:

Hehehe! Too bad Lord & Taylor doesn't sell anything like this anymore.

1880's Brown Bustle

From the seller:

This beautiful Vitorian bustle dress is made from a light brown silk taffeta. The bodice is lined and has bones in the seams. It hooks down the front and has a pleated panel with a long point in front that hooks over the center front. It's fitted with darts and has 3/4 lenght sleeves with tucks on the cuffs. It has very light underarms stains. It measures 32 1/2 inches around the bust, across the back shoulder is 10 1/2, waist is 22 and it's 20 1/2 inches from shoulder to point in front. The skirt is lined in a glazed cotton and a wide facing of some interfacing fabric (the facing around the hem has some minor holes/tears). The back of the skirt comes up and hooks in center back, the seams on the sides of the center back are opened a little at the bottom and need to be stitched up. There's a stain on the center back skirt, but if you ruch up the back as I showed in the photos, it will cover the stain and leave enough length for a little train. The left side of the skirt is draped across the front, there's pleats from the waist to hem on the left where the drape starts, and the bottom of the skirt has a box pleated ruffle. The skirt is 25 inches around the wiast, hips are full and it's 46 1/2 inches long in front. There's a few small light scattered spots, but hard to see in the pleats and drapes. Overall the dress is in excellent condition, the fabric is nice and sturdy.

From Me:

Nice, simple, but still elegant dress.

Purple Edwardian Bodice

From the seller:

Antique purple floral women's blouse/shirt, ribbed with metal hook and eye closures down the front. Very nice antique blouse from the late 1800s - about 1890. This does have some wear in the fabric along the collar and on the sleeve where it is worn through or there are holes, but overall it does look nice. The metal hook and eye closures down the front are all in good working condition and the wrists also have metal hook and eye closures. Nice lavendar silk material with floral detail and ruffles and velvet on the sleeves. - I have matching shoes in a separate listing that are shown in the first photo, but are not included in this auction...THIS AUCTION IS JUST FOR THE BLOUSE - the shoes are also from the 1800s and were a set with this blouse, I am listing separately in case I have interest in just the blouse or just the shoes.

Measures:

Length: 15 inches

sleeve length: 21 inches

wrist: 3 inches across (6 inches around)

Bust: 17 inches across (about 34 inches around)
Waist: 13.5 inches across (about 27 inches around)

Purchased from an estate sale of a lady that is still living. She indicated this and other items that I have listed have been in her family for a long time. She indicated that these are from the 1800s

From Me:

The gathers at the very front of the bodice at the waistline indicate this is from the mid 1900s. Also, the sleeves aren't ridiculous.

This makes me happy. :-)

I'm putting it in the 1880's due to the fabric but give or take 20 years on that date.
