Today I have an Edwardian Antique Dress that is obviously hand made, and Very Cool! It is designed with velvet and silk with embroidery and glass beads. What a Beautiful Design! Poss. Turn of the Century Bolero

UP FOR SALE IS A BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE VICTORIAN BODICE. HAS MATCHING HAND PAINTED BUTTONS THROUGHOUT. 14" FROM SHOULDER TO SHOULDER, 19" FROM END OF SLEEVE TO SHOULDER AND 18" FROM FRONT BOTTOM TO SHOULDER. HAS ONE BAD SEPERATION TEAR ON ONE SLEEVE. SLEEVES BALLOON OUT. TWO SMALLER MATCHING BUTTONS ON THE SLEEVES. TWO ON THE BACK, ONE ON THE INSIDE AND 2 LARGER ONES ON THE FRONT. THIS PIECE COULD BE OLDER THAN VICTORIAN. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BIDDING!!

I'm hesitant to call this Turn of the Century or anything other than vintage. I think this is just a very good theater piece based upon the buttons and the lining.

Late Teens Bathing Suit

From the seller:

Antique Victorian 19th Century Black Cotton Sateen One Piece Swimsuit With Attached Bottom Bloomers



This bathing suit dates to the Victorian 19th century and is fashioned of black cotton sateen and is a step in with the bloomers attached beneath a long falling skirt and when worn, the buttons of the shoulder must be undone and slipped in. White piping trims the ruffled bloomer bottoms as well as piping around the neckline with a button trim. The piece originally had a belt but none was found, there is a slight surface dust staining to the knees and several nipped fray holes to the inner leg on the left side with the piping of the neckline having frayed at the very edge. Otherwise in excellent, strong and wearable condition. Measures 46 inches around the bust, 48 inches at the waist, 54 inches at the hips, and measures 43 inches in its length.

From Me:

Based upon the way the buttons are, the decorations, and the overall style, I'm going to say late 1910's for this piece. If it were 19th Century, it would most likely have sleeves. ;-)

1920's Bathing Suit

Antique Victorian Turn of the Century Black Cotton Sateen Bathing Suit With Over Sized Pointed Pockets



This bathing suit dates to the Victorian turn of the century and is fashioned of black cotton sateen with a white piped edging along its top. Each shoulder buttons closed, the buttons on each shoulder are odd additions, each shoulder is even with two different buttons on each. The strapping of the shoulders is most unusual, fashioned of matching black cotton in crossing strap fashion, one is in need of re-stitching to put it back in place. Most unusual are the side pockets which rise out of the garment in pointed effect with the edging of attachment in a white looped stitched trim. No bottom bloomers were found with this piece, a very unusual piece for the collection. Measures 42 inches around the chest with it flaring to 60 inches around the bottom and measures 36 inches in length from shoulder to bottom edge.

Definitely NOT Victorian. Rather, this is an early 1920's styled bathing suit! The pockets indicate that this is probably from the same time when panniers became popular again in the 1920's. Fabulous!

Fabulous Turn of the Century Skirt

Great Graphic Gay 1890’s Print Petticoat with Swirl Design



This petticoat dates to the 1890’s and is fashioned of white cotton with a brown stripe and bold swirl print. There was once a larger button in the rear and a smaller one has been replaced, there may have been a drawstring as well, minor wear is seen at the waistline with an eraser sized hole just beneath the button of the enclosure but the condition is otherwise excellent. Measures 36 inches around the waist, 40 inches in its length, and a bottom sweep measuring roughly 100 inches around.
Vintage clothing is described to its best and sold as found…and described as accurately as possible. The items HAVE NOT been cleaned and should be cleaned prior to wearing at the discretion of the buyer. Often for proper fit, hang, and wear ability, pieces will need to be altered and/or adding a hook or snap here or there, with a seam closure or strengthening needed. Vintage clothing is most often worn previously, and if old stock, often has slight imperfections from storage, a hint of color or odor.

I sort of want to just cut this in half, take the bottom half, pleat it to a new waistband, and wear this to work. :-)

1890's Black Blouse

Victorian 1880's Silk Bodice w Shirring & Beading Sm


This Victorian bodice is made from black silk and is lined with cotton and has boning in the seams. The lining hooks down the center front and the shirred silk panel comes over it and hooks along the shoulder and down the side seam. It has a high stiff collar that hooks in back, the upper sleeves are pouffed and then fitted to the wrist. The sleeves are trimmed with pretty beading and a lacel ruffle around the bottom. One ruffle is torn loose, but coule be tacked back to the wrist. It has some tears on the shoulder, on the folded edges of the collar, small holes under the arms and some damage along the side seam where the hooks and eyes are. It measures 35 1/2 inches around the bust, waist is 25 1/2 inches, across the back shoulder is 11 3/8 inches and it's about 17 1/2 inches from the shoulder to the longest point in center front.

International priority mail includes tracking & insurance. First class mail does not. Although I will ship first class international items without insurance are sent at buyer's option.

Given the sleeves, this is most likely early 1890's. The fitted bodice, rather than a pigeon front, also points to an early 1890's date. However, this sleeve style became popular again as the 1890's came to a close.

Black and White Kinda Day

This beautiful flapper dress needs to be restored. Made from black silk chiffon it's heavily beaded in white and clear seed beads. It has a chiffon wedge shaped panel on one side trimmed with silk tassles along the bottom edge. It has some good size tears and holes plus some smaller ones, one underarm is pretty damaged, the other just has an opened seam, minor bead loss. IT measures 38 inches around the bust, hips are 40 and it';s 47 inches long at the longest point. as is.
