Black Edwardian Tea Dress

From the seller:

Here we have a lovely Victorian mourning gown from the late 1800's. It is made entirely of silk lace and mesh with a ribbon cinched waist. Fastens up the back with hook and eye closures. The back is shown unfastened because it is too small for the dress form. This dress is in remarkably good condition and has only one spot of damage at the neck which is about the size of a small pea. Clean with no stains or strong odors.

So not from the "1800's". And, thereby, not Victorian. We have a GORGEOUS Edwardian gown in black that is perfect for drinking lemonade on the porch. I doubt it's for mourning either given the lace and overall appearance. Although white was the common color for this style, it was not the only color.

1890's Polka Dots and Bows Dress

1880's Green & Brown Polka Dot Bustle Gown: What great eye candy. The over netting of chocolate brown with geometric motif over green silk is just stunning. The long train adds so much sophistication to the over all look. There are bows at the cuffs and on the hem of the dress. The bust is 32, the waist is 26, the front of the skirt measures 41 inches. There are repairs to the netting of the skirt. The ones that are close to the top of the waist band in the front do not show when the bodice is on. There are some
other repairs here and there. The largest repair is at the back, medium height on the skirt seam and I have photographed it. There are some small holes in the netting. Nothing offensive. This gown makes a wonderful display piece as you can see. Will quote Reserve upon request.

POLKA DOTS AND BOWS!!!!!!

...Okay, so, it's not 1880's but it probably is an early 1890's so that can be forgiven. ;-) You can tell by the shape of the sleeve that they were just either getting into the puffy sleeve madness or just coming out of it. Also, I seriously doubt that this was originally brown - it looks like it was black and just faded.

1870's (?) Wrapper Dress

From the seller:

This is a wonderful paisley-inspired printed heavy challis dress in excellent condition. Though there is no actual "paisley" in the design, bptj the colors and Eastern-inspired print, in shades of tan, blue, orange, red, and white, on a dark brown background, show the widespread influence of the hugely popular Paisley shawl.
It's piped at the shoulders, has two patch pockets, closes with shell buttons. The bodice area is lined with white cotton. The sleeves, collar, and pockets have been trimmed with black silk, the sleeve in the Colonial Revival style, adorned with 3 shell buttons. The black silk trim seems to have been added later, and looks, at least in the case of the collar, to be able to be removed to reveal the original fabric underneath.

True colors are shown in the closeups.



It measures 38" around the bust, 33" at the waist, it's 54 3/4" measured in back from the collar seam to the hem, sleeve length is 22".

Very good to excellent condition, with one missing button, which I will provide a similar, one small flaw to the fabric visible near the button area at the top.

1920's Ivory Gown

for your consideration, this estate sale find! what a bombshell gown, ivory with sequin and glass beading and SILK satin shirring around the neck and armholes!!...this was lovingly preserved for many years, has a very gauze-like slip sewn right in! A lovely flowing cut gown to show off all the right curves, and to show off the posterior side and the hips as well!!...and is a very flattering style..measurements are approximately to 38" bust, 40" waist, 42 hip..length is overall 42" from shoulder.. no fabric content labels, but the dress is very linen, lace, and light weight and summery...Dress is perfectly wearable right now as is. see photos. Over the head entry...there are a couple of faint character spots, one of which I can't even seem to photograph it is so faint..see last two photos...Absolutely a treasure which is crying to be worn! Sheer Edwardian Tea Dress

This gown is being sold as is.
This is an exceptional example of a late Edwardian dress, 1916 - 1918, in an ivory sheer and net material.
The top has a scalloped collar and is decorated with embroidered pink flowers.
There are two green velvet bands with bows around the waist and long net sleeves with embroidered cuffs.
The skirt has an apron look to it with a net top layer embroidered with the pink flowers and two unusual pockets with green tassels.
Under the net layer is a tissue thin material with two net ruffles attached to it.
It fastens with snaps and hooks and loops.

The dress needs a few repairs - the tissue thin material needs to be reinforced on the skirt, one net ruffle has almost completely separated from it on the seam and I had it pinned for the photos - the last photo shows this. There is also a period mend in the net ruffle on the bottom.
The thin material lining the top is torn in several places (photo) as is the very bottom hem all around (under the bottom net ruffle - photo). There are also holes in the thin material in several places.
There are some stains and a few tiny holes in the netting (photos). Also the collar on the back by one of the hook and loops needs a little restitching.
This dress would be beautiful with a little restoration.

1890's Frothy Puffy Pink Gown

This auction is for a Stunning original 1890 to early 20th century Lady's Pink Beaded Brocade 2 piece Gown. Fashioned with the most luxurious silk satin brocade in a lovely shade of pale pink and ivory along with ivory rippled crepe fabric and very wide silk satin ribbon. A 11 metal stayed polish cotton lined bodice has a cinched waistband with "Tansle Springfield Mass". Extravagant leg of mutton sleeves that are created with gorgeous wide lace, matching brocade, the ivory rippled crepe fabric and matching to the skirt large two toned bows slightly hidden in between the crepe and brocade. The V neckline has matching lace, a wide overlaying collar that is decorated with gold glass beads, pink and white pearls and silver rhinestones all that coordinates with the superb wide V opulently decorated waistline. All this with a very large two toned (pink and ivory) satin bow and a smaller fabric rosette on the right side of the tucked neckline and shoulders. A blind front alternating hook and eye closure that is covered with more of the superb lace; along with underarm shields there is a large padding attached to the underarms which I believe is to accent and create a larger bust. The highly deocrated 9 gored skirt is just as lovely as the bodice; the lovely and quite interesting ivory crimped / rippled crepe fabric creates the inserted panels that are topped with huge matching to the bodice bows. It is a silk and chintz lined full skirt with a slightly pleated waistband and a lovely ivory crimping sheared underskirt. A very wearable size, the mannequin is a size 2/4 and the gown is just slightly too large. Measurements are taken laying flat, closed and across; 35" underarm to undearm, 26" waist and 53" from shoulder to front hem. In very good very clean sound condition including the silk inside the skirt, 2 narrow spots on the front skirt and some very faint overall yellowing that can only be noticed with certain light, it seems in the actual daylight it is extremely hard to detect. Overall I feel this stunning gown is in extremely good very sound condition and could easily be worn and certainly would be a magnificent addition to any any serious collection. A lavish gown that exemplifies the Gay 90's to early 20th Century era.

Bulgarian Lady's Embroidered Coat

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are pleased to offer this week,
a scarce antique c.1880`s ethnic Bulgarian ladies' folk costume dress from the Kjustendil region. Wonderful gold & silver metallic threads and colorful tones embroidery.

Condition: very good for its age with only few holes.

Measures: 44"length; waist 32"circumference (16" seam to seam) 15.5"from shoulder seam to shoulder seam; 20"armpit to armpit

The Bulgarian style was very similar to the Turkish still at this point. I just love the embroidery involved in these coats.
