1890's Wrapper Dress

From the seller:

This is an amazing antique Victorian ladies day dress or wrapper! It has gorgeous lace and leg o mutton sleeves. It buttons with tiny bone buttons down the front. There are a couple of holes that I have pictured, but it's generally in good shape for it's age and could be worn carefully or displayed.
It's 52" long, 14" across the shoulders, 16" from armpit to armpit, 13" across the front of the waist, and 18" across the hips.
It just gorgeous and would make a great display or for reenactments!

Sweet 1920's Day Dress

From the seller:

This is a Beautiful Vintage Chiffon & Lace Cocktail Party Dress from the 1920’s!

LABEL: none

Fabric is a light to medium-weight semi-sheer rayon chiffon … dark navy blue in colour. Netting lace with floral embroidery … ecru in colour. Dress has two layers of this material.

Design: Dress is made of two layers. The underlayer is a plain chiffon with short sleeves … top layer is sleeveless and is as long as the under layer. Wider rounded neckline with lovely net lace with floral embroidery (front and back) … tiny vertical accordion pleats run down top layer … net lace and embroidery insets at waist and down side … tiny self-fabric covered decorative buttons down center front and back and down side slits of top layer … the top layer is open at the decorative button sections … metal snap closure at front waist (in the lace section) which allows the top layer to open completely for getting on and off … metal snap closure at left breast on under layer.

Very Good Vintage Condition!! The dress does need a cleaning – the lace sections are a bit dingy but should clean up nicely. There is a hole in the chiffon at the right sleeve near the seam (see photo) … there are some tiny breaks in the lace here and there (nothing severe – tiny areas). See photos. A lovely piece of history.

Bustle Era Dress

From the seller:

This auction is for a fantastic original silk taffeta walking dress from the 1880s. It's brown silk is accented with stunning panels of plaid silk velvet along with matching cuffs. The dress's silhouette is the epitome of high Victorian glamour with it's skin-tight boned bodice and nipped waist billowing out behind into an extensive shelf bustle. The bodice fastens with many hooks and eyes. There are two panels inside it which hook together to ease strain on the silk. There is also and inside belt which hooks. The skirt fastens in the rear with three buttons to help the bustle sit properly. The Lining is brown polished cotton. in the skirt, there are two drawstring casings intended to help the shirt hold its shape. Though not in perfect condition, this dress is a wonderful addition your collection as a conservation project or study piece. It displays well with care and with a bit of stabilization, will last for years to come!

Condition is fair to good. There is obvious shatter to the silk in the skirt, some discoloration to the silk on the bodice (not terribly distracting), a replaced button on the skirt (not visible when displayed) and the top hook on the bodice is broken. This is easily remedied by fastening a brooch there as I have. (Mine is not included.) The drawstring casings are empty and one of the inner panels of the bodice has a tear. There is an organza backing to some of the silk on the skirt where conservation was begun.

Measurements are: The bust is 30 inches & the waist measure 22 inches. The skirt front length is 38 inches.

Despite the rather drab colors, this is rather cute! Given the waistline, the cut of the shoulders, I'm guessing early 1860's.

Early Edwardian Gown

From the seller:

1900 Ivory Silk Tea Gown:( I am leaving on vacation for a week on June 24th so will need payment by June 23rd, if you want your package mailed out before I leave. If you do not pay before I leave I will mail your package when I get back.) This two piece dress is from the early 1900's and is made of a soft silk. It has been hand washed and has a smell of soap. I have put too many petticoats under the skirt and it is not as slim as it should be. The skirt has four groups of smocking at the waist band. It should have had a cummerbund but it is missing. There is a hook missing on the waist band and there is wear on the waist band near the hooks and eyes. There is one tiny pin spot on the skirt and there are no holes that I see. The yoke of the blouse is cotton lace trimmed with sequins. The lining of the bodice is in sturdy condition but does have spots. The bodice has underarm staining and has a quarter size spot on the left shoulder and a one inch tear under one arm. See photos. The waist of the skirt is 24 and the length is 32. The waist of the bodice is 22 and the bust is 31. The bidding will start at .99 with no reserve. Please see our other vintage clothing up for auction on eBay.

From Me:

I wish the seller didn't stuff the pigeon front - it ruins the look a bit. However, this is a very lovely day dress.
