This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

White Cotton American Civil War Era Dress
From the seller:
A charming 1860’s Civil War era pure whit cotton dress that has recently been de-accessioned from a major New York city museum collection. The fabric has a stripe pattern. The bodice has full bishop style sleeve. The front and back yoke are decorated with pin tucking. The top of the sleeves are also decorated with pin tucking. The pin tucking creates a lovely effect. The neckline, sleeve cuffs and front opening is accented with eyelet trim. The armscyes are piped. The full skirt is attached to the waist with cartridge pleating and the hemline is trimmed with pin tucking. The dress is unlined and eye closure at the neckline and waist. The dress is in very good and clean condition. There is one tiny mend under one arm and one very small age spot in the same area. The dress makes a beautiful display. Bust 34 Waist 24 Front skirt length 43 Back length 47 Width at hemline 148 inches.
From Me:
I so want to see a straw bonnet with a blue ribbon added to this ensemble. Seriously.
