This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Bustle Pad!
From the seller:
I believe this is a factory made dress bustle for a petite Victorian lady. It is made of what looks like high quality black muslin with somewhat of a sheen still left, and it still has it's original ties. There are 5 rows of stitching around the outside and a quilted effect in the middle. It measures 11 1/2" across and about 6 1/2" down the middle. From the feel it think it is stuffed with horsehair. Lovely condition, I see a few insignificant holes. Awesome item!
From Me:
Probably homemade. It could be either 1870's or 1880's - however I'm erroring on the earlier side with this.

What makes you think it's 1870s and not, say, 1900s?
