ANTIQUE 1900's DRESS 2-PC PURPLE VELVET AND CHALLIS MUSEUM DE-ACCESSIONED
A regal 1900 - 1905 stunning purple velvet and challis 2 PIECE in construction dress de-accessioned from the Rochester historical museum collection in New York state. The gown still retains it's original Museum ID catalog string tags as well as a sewn in catalog identification label.
The bodice has a attached velvet bolero and lovely colorful applique shoulder lapel. A lovely stand up collar
The lapel and sleeve cuffs are decorated with wide applique decorations. The sleeves are curved.
The bodice is lined with buckram and with 11 covered whale bone baleen stays and has a front inner button closure. All the button are missing as well as well as the outside buttons are missing.
The bodice has a front panel ribbed satin decoration.
The skirt has a back sweep and accented with gathered satin silk under the skirt. The skirt closes by hooks and eyes at the back. The skirt is lined with a black cotton lining that is in very good condition.
Condition: The outfit is in very good wearable condition. The bodice lining is very good condition. All 13 buttons are missing. The 2 back hooks on bodice to attach to skirt are missing. One small spot on front white satin bib. Satin on collar has shredding on backside. Small area of seam has opened up in one area in armpit, and easy fix. Some discoloration underarm stains on the outfit. No repairs or holes. Skirt also is in very good condition. A truly grand display dress/gown or for study. Sturdy enough to be wearable.
