Stunning Lace Covered Blue Silk Edwardian Outfit

From the seller:

Absolutely Beautiful

c.1890's

Victorian Gown

Beautiful Blue silk and lace bodice with boning

Blue silk and lace skirt with train.

Label reads:

ROBES ET MANTREAUX
E. A. Morrison & Son
NEW YORK

The blue silk fabric has retained its brilliant color and the lace is exquisite!
(There is an area on the left lower portion of the skirt where the color has faded over time.)

This beautiful gown is a work of art!
We recommend that this dress not be worn because of its age and fragile state.

Measurements have not been taken.
Dress has been carefully packed in tissue and is ready for shipping.
(See last photo.)

Please note:

Dress is in remarkable shape for its age!

There are some tears to the fabric, mostly at the waistline

and some fading on the bottom left of the skirt.

Please see photos.

From Me:

I wish the seller included larger photos and measurements but they didn't.

1903 Fashion Plate

It reminds me of a couple of dresses at the Met: this one with cutouts to look like lace and this one covered in lace. Notice both these and the fashion plate are from about 1903. I'm putting this extant one in that same year.

  1. Oooooh, yummy! If I thought I'd ever have the time to hand-tack all the lace appliques, I'd add it to my list.
