This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Black Late 1860's Bodice
From the seller:
Up for auction here is a Victorian blouse or jacket in distressed condition. Silk is kind of shredded, the lining is still in good shape, closes with hook and eye, is boned with 2 on one side, 1 on the other. Check out the pics, they can tell you more than I can type. No tag or label but looks small.
From Me:
My guess is right after the American Civil War.

I have a very similar bodice in my collection, fortunately in much better shape then this one. Mine is early to mid 1860s. With a few minor size adjustments I've used it to create an 1860's bodice pattern for myself. I've used it a few times but it seems like ages since my last Civil War event.

Cool! Civil War isn't really one of the eras I tend to do garb in - I have couple of dresses and a gown but that's it. Regency and the 16th Century are my "but I don't have one in exactly this color!" eras. :-)
