Young Girl's 1870's Natural Form Dress

From the seller:

1870's Black & White Polka Dot Young Teens Bustle Gown: This bustle gown is from the 1870's and was made for a young teenage girl. It has a bust of 32”, waist of 27”, hips up to 42”, shoulders 14” and skirt length is 27”. It is made of a white cotton with black polka dots and red piping. The dress was a day dress. There are some spots, some orange drips (see photos) and some of the red piping has frayed and bled. It has white glass buttons and the cotton is very sturdy. A great display piece but could be worn.

From Me:

You can easily see how strained the pleats are in the back from having a "bustle" beneath them. This is a natural form style dress.

1876 Fashion Plate

The little girl in the fashion plate has a lot more trim but the shape is the same.

  1. You might not think of it in the traditional sense, but the endless rounds of creation are actually quite entertaining, even for adults. Very young girls never seem to tire of dressing their Barbie dolls at home, and likewise their big sisters do not get tired of dressing the girls online. larme kei
