Late 1830's Ice Blue Dress

From the seller:

A stunning 1840’s changeable ice blue satin ball gown. The dress is all hand stitched There is no discoloration just shadows created by the camera flash. The fabric has a stylized floral pattern. The short sleeves are trimmed with knife pleated ruffles and ice blue silk bows. The round neckline, armscyes and waist are all piped. The bodice is lined with cotton and has stitched in bust enhancements. The dress has a back hook and eye closure. The hooks are old but the eyes are latter period replacements. The skirt is unlined. The dress is in excellent and sturdy condition. There are a couple of tiny spots on one ribbon bow, a very small area of light underarm discoloration and one tiny hole on the front of the skirt. Bust 36 Waist 26 Front length from shoulder to hem 52 Back length 55.

From Me:

1838 Fashion Plate via the Bartos Collection

The sleeves, the wide boatneck line neckline, even the tiny butt bow are all consistent with the late 1830's.
