Swiss Waist with Elastic

From the seller:

Victorian Bra/Corset/Bustier Undergarment. The color is true black with white lining. I photographed it outside during a sunny/cloudy day so the color varies.

The outer black material is taffeta like with a slight sheen. Lining is white cotton linen. Straps seem to be or have been elastic at one time and off-white. Garment has black ruffle trim across the top front, top back and straps. It has 28 eye holes for binding ties which are missing.

The front bottom tips have fabric wear and you can see the linen lining. There is a small hole on the black fabric on the front near the eye holes. There is also a few tiny holes and fabric wear on the back. The black fabric basically for its age is not too bad at all.

The ruffle trim has some wear and has come unstitched in areas, mostly the straps. 1 strap is not connected to the front at all and the fabric on the bodice part where the strap would meet is torn and shredded.

The lining does have some yellow areas and a few very small brown spots and wear. It also is basically very good for its age. The elastic on the straps has maroon discoloring and elastic is shot.

Still a nice Victorian piece to frame and display.

From Me:

The Swiss Waist was popular during the 1860's. What strikes me about this one is the elastic straps!
