This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Mid 1860's Dove Grey Dress with Rose Print
From the seller:
Lovely dove gray silk/wool voile two piece fancy gown dating to the 1860's. Bodice with overskirt attached, full under skirt. Front closing bodice with short stays and cotton lining, all original hardware. Gathered thru bodice into waist band, bell sleeves with top slits trimmed out in the floral ribbon weave silk, and lined in fine gray silk with tiny box pleats. Back closing skirt with tidy cartridge pleating the whole way around, full skirt with deep flounce of the ribbon weave voile floral silk. Definitive of the period with romantic sentiment. Not perfect, with breaks mostly on front of skirt and along top shoulders of the bodice, but scattered small holes thruout, see images, the back of gown really quite good. The ribbon weave silk has survived mostly quite nicely. Will need conservation! Chest 32", waist 22" length of skirt 43".
