This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Pale Green Sheer 1930's Dress
From the seller:
A classic flapper girl era dress in a sheer green. The embroidered flowers. Underneath a slip.
Measurements:
Shoulder to bottom front 50 inches
Shoulder to bottom sides about 55 inches
Under armpits across chest 18 inches
Waist about 31 inches
The embroidery work is machine sewn.
There's age spotting and age yellowing in places. Maybe a bite or two to be safe :)
Circa 1920/30s era
From Me:
Very clearly 1930's.

Where is everybody getting this wicker mannequins?? There were two being used at my local museum, slowly wearing away at the thin silk and lace...sigh
ReplyDeleteThey were popular in the late 1980's/early 1990's as part of a "Victorian Look". Think Laura Ashely.
