This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. Ornate 1890's Bodice
From the seller:
A lavish 1890’s gray embroidered cashmere wool jacket. The label reads Besten & Langen, Louisville. The jacket is extensively adored with light gray and white stylized embroidery. The jacket has a front insert of Irish lace that is trimmed with blue velvet ribbon and long front tassels. The Irish lace is laid over a white chiffon base. The collar, shoulders and sleeves have inserts of Irish lace. The sleeves cuffs are made of Irish lace and trimmed with blue velvet. The jacket is also trimmed with light gray silk balls, It is lined with white silk. The jacket is in good condition. There are a few scattered moth nips, a couple of missing balls and a small section of missing trim on the inside neckline. A beautiful work of art. Bust 34 Loose fitting waist 34.
