This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

WWI Era Summer Dress
From the seller:
This is a lovely antique Edwardian wedding or party dress made of several types of gorgeous lace. It is ivory in color. The has snaps and hook closures up the front. It has rolled satin piping long the edges of the skirt and sleeves as shown giving a wonderful flounce effect. I believe this gown is French. The fabric feels like soft gauze with pulled thread lace almost completely covering gown. There are two layers to dress and bodice. Bust is up to 35 inches.. Waist is up to 32 inches....Hips up to 40 inches....Arm inseam is 12 inches...Length from shoulder to hem in front is 45 inches...In the back is it 54 inches. It is in very good to excellent condition for its age. I find only a few speck size fabric flaws. I also find under arm marks. It has not been washed in almost 95 years., and I think these marks will soak off with cleaning. It may be much whiter if it was cleaned. Right now it is more of an ivory color. The fabric seems in very nice. And this dress is very wearable. My best guess is around 1915. The Titanic era. Key words Late Victorian, Early 20th C, Couture
From Me:
More 1915-1918 in style and cut. Very lovely though!
