This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Nice, Simple Teen's Era Day Dress
From the seller:
A lovely original circa 1913 lady's sheer white window pane woven muslin and embroidered dot one piece dress with a lace trimmed collar, a fashionable high waist, shell buttons to the front closure, vertical pleat accents to the bodice, gathered ruffled cuffs, and pin tuck pleat accents above the hem. Shown with necklaces and a waist belt that are not included. 17" from shoulder to shoulder, a 36"bust, 28" waist and 50" from shoulder to front hem. In good clean sound condition, with a few pin dot age flaws, some minor light soiling at the hem, a few small holes in the sleeves, and a bit of perspiration color to the collar crease. A very pretty Edwardian era day dress
From Me:
Lady Sybil. I think. I just love that it's a wearable size!

is this material lawn? I think I would love to make one like this .. but where to get the material ??
ReplyDeleteAs the seller says, it's most likely a window pane muslin. A quick google search using the terms "window pane sheer cotton" came up with several promising results. However, you won't find an exact match given that this is an antique. :-)
