This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

1860's Sheer Blouse and Skirt
From the seller:
Lovely summer net outfit dating to the 1860's, as found. Bodice with ruched trimmings, some loose edges, huge bell sleeves with net rosette. Skirt with cotton waist band, full skirt with train and the ruched trimmings, several large breaks to the net, the net is bit crisp.
From Me:
This is early 1860's putting it in the time of the American Civil War. The skirt looks like it has a long train in the pictures but, if you look closely, you'll realize it's just because the seller left the waistband open. I doubt there is more than a couple of inches difference between the front length and back length when it was was worn - if even that much.
The bell sleeves but normal waist probably mean this is from about 1861-1863. Amazing find!
