This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Belle Epoch 1890's Evening Bodice
From the seller:
A magnificent 1890’s Belle Epoch floral print satin brocade and midnight blue velvet evening bodice. The label reads M.A. Driscoll, Boston. The satin fabric has a large floral pattern done in shades of deep pink and blue. The flowers are surrounded by gold vines. There is no fading of the colors as appears just the flash from the camera. The large leg of mutton style sleeves are partly made of velvet and satin brocade. The neckline, front opening and sleeve cuffs are trimmed with exquisite gold metallic lace. The lace is also accented with gold sequins. The gold lace is laid over an ivory lace. The bodice is lined with ivory satin and has a front hook and eye closure. The bodice is in very good condition. There are no splits or holes in the satin or velvet fabrics. The lining inside the sleeves is splitting. It can honestly be said that the photos do not do this beautiful bodice justice. Bust 36 Waist 32
From me:
This seller deletes his photos typically pretty quickly so I'm glad I caught this one and the next one. I *adore* the colors of this bodice and which the skirt survived as well, but alas, it didn't.
