This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

18th Century Stays
From the seller:
Impressive ecru linen ladies stay or corset dating to the last half of the 18thc. Finely sewn tracks giving the silhouette a barrel front form, with leather trimmings. Back lacings and lined in linen. As found with wear to back edges and some loose stitching of the linen in the interior. Essential under garment for period dress, excellent candidate for collection. Measures 28" across mid section lying flat, stand 14" at the back and 12" in front.
From Me:
My guess is 1760's based on the style and the length of the stays.

And for people who really don't just what a Kurti really is? ... It is otherwise known as a Tunic in the western world, and is still really just a traditional piece of clothing for most South Asians specially in Indian Sub-Continent. They are designed to fit and women wear them . black men shalwar kameez
