This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Teen's Era Frothy Dress
From the seller:
Antique Victorian Ladies/Girls Silk Dress With Lining And Sash Belt.
The sash belt has a large silk rose at the waist where it attaches with hooks and eyes and has two long strips attached which hang approximately 3/4 of the length of the skirt.
Dress appears to be in very good physical condition. No visible tears or damage to the fabric.
However, one strap on the inside bodice lining is frayed and there is discoloration under both sleeves and there are a few small brown stains on dress and sash.
There are a number of pieces with snaps on this dress and we are not quite sure how they are supposed to attach.
Dress needs some TLC but the styling and details are truly a work of art.
The front and back have the same taupe embroidered insert at top and there is a satin rose perched at each shoulder.
The dress has snap closures at the waist and from the neckline to waist. There are also snap closures at the front.
Appears to be a small size, possibly an 8 or 10.
Acquired at an estate sale. This item is being sold as found and as shown in photos.
We do not clean or alter any of our antique items in order to preserve their vintage integrity.
From Me:
A page on Titanic era fashions with various extant dresses and fashion plates similar to this one.
Another good link on early Teen's Era fashions.
This dress is definitely from about 1911/1912. The shape of the sleeves and the sash are both indicative of the Titanic era.
