This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

1920's Homemade Witch's Outfit
From the seller:
This is the crème del la crème of my collection. I've seen this fabric once before, it is a very rare pattern and as you can see, very, very detailed. It resembles some of the teens and 1920s Halloween crepe paper. Late 20's, maybe very early 1930s vintage Halloween dress or costume. This is made from Halloween patterned cotton. Fabric design features witches, jack-o-lanterns, devils with pitchfork, bats, moons, spiders with webs, witch's cauldron with fire, owls. Wonderful vintage dress to wear for your next Halloween party. Would be great with a vintage witch's hat (or the one provided with the dress), Victorian shoes and black cotton stockings. I'll be listing a few other vintage beauties from my Halloween collection this month. I still have a butterfly to list this week, trying to locate it so I can get photos taken. The starting cost of this costume reflects/protects my original investment, sorry I can't start it lower.
This original vintage orange & black Halloween costume or dress is being auctioned "as is", I do not accept returns. Please request additional photos or information if needed to make a proper decision prior to placing your bid. Be sure to check the measurements against a garment that fits you well. You must be smaller than the above measurements to ensure a proper fit. Thank you!
I have a two day handling time but I usually get items out quicker.
From Me:

Oh, wow--somebody please reproduce that fabric!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to see if I can get it up on Spoonflower. It might take a while though.
DeleteHow darling! It's a good thing I didn't see it when it was still for sale...
ReplyDeleteIt reminded me of the witches dress I wore when I was 5...probably because of the cape. I got in a lot of trouble for loosing that cape Halloween.
