This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

1920's/1930's Butterfly Costume
From the seller:
This gorgeous little butterfly costume is handmade and most likely done in the early 20's. It's in excellent condition and ready to wear. The costume includes a little insect body-suit with wings that attach to the child's wrist with self ties. The costume includes a matching beanie style hat with antenna that are woven with metallic thread. The appliques appear to be made from heavy rayon crepe fabric, probably left over from another project and repurposed. Whimsical creatures, sprites and the like, insects were popular themes from the Edwardian period through the 1920s. This antique butterfly costume should be used and enjoyed today.
I have another 1920s children's butterfly costumes that I will be auctioning in the next week, if you like antique costumes, please check back.
This original butterfly Halloween costume is being auctioned "as is", I do not accept returns. Please request additional photos or information if needed to make a proper decision prior to placing your bid. Be sure to check the measurements against a garment that fits you well. You must be smaller than the above measurements to ensure a proper fit. Thank you!
From Me:
Does anyone else see this and think "MOTHMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"?
