This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Late Edwaridan/Early Teens Simple Dress
From the seller:
Edwardian Brown Wool / Silk 2PC Dress Sm
This pretty Edwardian dress is made from a pretty brown fabric, it feels like a wool and silk blend to me. THe bodice probably had an underbodice at one time, but an ivory blouse would be all that you would need. It hooks down the back and has a wide tuck in band around the bottom. The V neck and short, flouncy sleeves are trimmed with looped gold braid. It measures 36 inches around the bust, waist is 26 1/4 inches and it's 17 inches to the waist and 20 3/4 inches total long. lta and it hooks down the back. THe skirt is backed with brown linen, it has a waistband and hooks down the back. The skirt is smooth and has a deep box pleat below the back placket. The hem is faced with a narrow band of velvet, and it dips a few inches longer in back. The skirt measures 25 inches, hips are 42 and it's 40 inches long in front. A few hooks and eyes need to be secured and it has a small amount of small scattered holes, but overall in excellent condition and very wearable.
From Me:
To my eye, it looks unfinished. The style might have changed by the time she got around to trimming it or it ended up in the UFO pile for some reason. It is also possible she wore this with a blouse and just had a nice belt and brooch to jazz it up but it looks very plain to me.

I've seen this one before and I'd bet it originally had a lacey guimpe blouse under it, and a belt as you said. I remember when I saw it, I loved it!
