Very Early 1930's Peach Dress

From the seller:

I recently pulled this little beauty out of the basement. My intent was to sell her as is, but after close examination it was clear to me that whoever made this dress, put a whole lot of love into her. That said I decided to clean her up and make a few mends. The dress is made of silk chiffon crepe. The bodice is lined in a burnt orange nylon acetate (fluid and strong) and at some point the skirt lining was cut away. I finished off the cut edge. The dress pulls over the head with hook and eye closures at the top of the left shoulder and down the left side. Beautiful glass prong rhinestone trim along the neck edge with sheered chiffon smocking along the front. The skirt has a high low cut. There are two layers. The main underskirt is straight and the top layer is a full circle of flowing chiffon that attaches at points all the way around with a lovely poppy flower embellishment. Rare larger size. No reserve!

*I pictured the dress on Manny with a nude half slip

Measurements: Bust: 38" Waist: 32" Hips: 37 -38" Overall Length Front: 50" / Overall Length Back: 62"

Condition: Excellent. Very solid dress and totally wearable. A few tiny flea bites here and there. Minimal. Mainly they are under the front upper bodice. They are small and completely concealed by the fringe. See pic. A couple of spots along the lower edge. See pic. One stone missing at the end of the trim, top of the left shoulder. Slight underarm. This dress is STUNNING and truly one of a kind.

*Dress is clean and ready to party!

From Me:

I think this is probably about 1931/1932 rather than late 20's. Although it still has the drop waist of the 1920's, you can see the bias cut and back neckline most reminiscent of the 1930's.

  1. It's like the 1930s version of Katniss's "Girl on Fire" dress (the movie version, not the book version)!
