This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. 1880's Bustle Outfit
From the seller:
SILK DRESS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION...BROWN & BLUE SILK WITH BROCAID FLOWERS ON BLUE...I'M NO EXPERT SO I TOOK A LOT OF PICS TO HELP ME DESCRIBE THE DRESS...I STUFFED THE BUSTLE COMPARTMENTS WITH A LITTLE PILLOW STUFFING JUST TO SHOW THE AREA OFF...THE SKIRT MEASURES 32" FROM WAIST TO BOTTOM FRONT...THE WAIST OF THE TOP IS 24" AND THE WAIST OF THE SKIRT IS 26", MEASUREMENTS APPROXIMENT...BUTTONS ON ONE SLEEVE MISSING BUT ONE OF THE OTHER TWO BUTTONS CAN BE PUT ON OTHER SLEEVE CUFF TO MATCH IT UP...THEY ARE A BEAUTIFUL ABALONE INLAY...

I will never understand the need to write in all caps. Anyway, mid 1880's by the look of it. Possibly as early at 1883.

I love everything about this! That bodice is AMAZING! The colors and the points in the front and back and the buttons... I think I might try to make this dress if I ever get around to making a bustle dress.
