This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Bustle Era Burgundy Dress
From the seller:
A rich 1880’s burgundy satin and plush velvet bustle dress. The bodice has a burgundy velvet front, collar and sleeve cuffs. The bodice is lined with cotton and has a front button closure. The buttons have a center bird motif. The cuffs are trimmed with the same decorative buttons. The skirt is intricately designed. The front panel on the skirt is made of velvet and it has a draped satin apron panel. The skirt has tabs of velvet on one side and ruching on the other side. The skirt is also trimmed with large decorative buttons that match the buttons on the bodice. The skirt is lined with cotton. The dress is in very good condition. There are circles of underarm discoloration on the lining and on the satin fabric. There is a ½ inch split under one arm. There is some wear to the velvet on the collar. There are no other splits or holes in the fabric. Antique clothing is for display/collecting and should not be worn. Bust 34 Waist 24 Skirt length 39.
From Me:
Based on the shape of the bodice, I think this is 1870's rather than 1880's. Probably about 1873/1874 really.
