This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. Mid 1860's Bodice in Stripes
From the seller:
DATING TO THE CIVIL WAR ERA
FASHIONED OF A HIGH SHINING STRIPED SILK
STUFFED COVERED BUTTONS CLOSE THE FRONT
WIDE SAWTOOTH TRIM ACROSS THE FRONT AND UP THE SHOULDERS WITH MATCHING TRIMS ON THE CUFFS
PIPING TRIMS THE ARM SEAMS
THERE IS SOME SMALL SPOTS THUMB PRINT IN SIZE AT THE CLOSURE AT THE BOTTOM CENTER AND THE MIDDLE BUTTON ON THE SAWTOOTH TRIM. SOME SMALL SCATTERED BROWN STAINS SPRINKLED ACROSS THE BUST, WATER STAIN ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT SLEEVE AND SOME AGE COLOR ON THE INNER NECKLINE
THE SAW TOOTH TRIM HAS COME FREE SLIGHTLY ON THE REAR SLEEVE O THE RIGHT SIDE AND IS EASILY TACKED BACK
NO OTHER HOLES OR WEAKNESS, STRONG AND FULLY WEARABLE

CHEST: 32
WAIST: 23
LENGTH: 15

Probably about 1865 based on trim placement and length of the bodice.
