This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Late 1860's Partially Finished Dress
From the seller:
A 19THC. ladies watered silk bodice and skirt..and one other panel. It seems a work in progress or it was altered later. The watered silk taffeta is very nice. The skirt has two layers.. The fabric from selvage to selvage is less than 21". The extra piece measures apprx.59" by 8 1/2" at top as a strip was cut off..so top 19" part of panel measures as that.. the rest has the selvage on both sides.
Item Measurements:
Apprx.
Item condition:
In very good condition,a few tiny spots and pindot openings..minor.. fabric is very strong. this was part of early clothing that was stored away for a long time so has a storage smell..needs to be cleaned.....All items we list need to be cleaned.
From Me:
Most likely 1868 or about then based on the skirt shape and the high waistline of the mostly finished bodice.
The lady spying on her neighbors in the above fashion plate has similar trim on her shoulders to what we see in the extant gown. The fashion plate is from 1868. Unfortunately for the lady that started this project, it appears to have been in her UFO pile for a bit too long...
