This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Early 1890's Pumpkin Coat
From the seller:
This beautiful Victorian coat is the most amazing pumpkin color wool. It has huge leg o mutton sleeves tucked at the wrist with a wide turned back cuff. It buttons from neck down to almost the bottom, it's gored with a flared skirt and has a vent to the waist in back. The lining on the upper coat is shot, from the waist down it's ok, but has one small hole close to the bottom and needs to be hand sewn in places to the facing. Quite a few buttons are missing, so all will need to be replaced, when the buttons pulled off, some left little holesl behind. There's also a few small scattered holes in the wool, about 6 and a few other spots that are not quite holes, all small. One sleeve and the shoulders are dirty, it looks like some would come out, it looks like some is just surface dust, also a bit ligher on the fold line where it hung. It measures 36 inches around the bust, across the back shoulder is 13 and you'll have some extra room with the full sleeves, waist is 26 1/4, hips are 42 inches and it's 48 inches long. Good, restorable condition.
From Me:
Pumpkin coat with pumpkin sleeves! I'd wear something like this with a crazy looking green hat and tell everyone I stayed out after midnight the night before. ;-)
