1870's Bustle Gown

From the seller:

Antique Victorian Dress

A very elegant silk antique Victorian Dress in a glistening champagne color. Elaborate embroidery of flowers, foliage and butterfly. It goes around the skirt's bottom and up the side. I've tried to show how full this skirt is and to give you an idea of the bustle. Included is the original heart sachet that has been pinned to the inside of the skirt near bottom. Notice the piping along the train/bustle. The train is tacked to the skirt as shown.

Condition: Metal stays in top are coming out at top and bottom. A minor tear at corner of neckline. A few spots on the top and skirt. The interior cotton band that hooks around the waist has been torn. A metal stay is pertruding on the interior.

Please see my other Victorian clothing and accessories. Also I have other vintage clothing items listed. Combined shipping is offered to save you money.

Approximate Measurements

Bust: 15" across (30")
Waist of Top: 10" across (20")
Top Length: 17-1/2"
Skirt Waist: 11"across with more room to let out
Skirt Length: 44" to 65" at longest point

From Me:

I know it doesn't look it on the dress form, but it's 1870's. It's just that the seller doesn't have any of the period undergarments beneath the gown. The sleeves still have that distinct 1860's curve that carried over into the 1870's. The lines of the bodice., like the squared neckline reminiscent of the 18th century, follow the early to mid 1870's.
