This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Stunning Titanic Era Cream colored Gown
From the seller:
1910's Silk & Embroidered Applique Evening Gown: This was once a grand evening gown, I can just see her dancing in it with her train on her arm. The bust is 32, the waist is 24, the skirt length is 40 and the shoulders are 14.5. It is too fragile to wear in this condition. The inner silk lining is totally shattered. See photo. The silk outer layer is shattering as well. See photos. Most of the appliqués and silk bands on the outer layer are in good condition. The applique at the left waist band needs some repair. The center back casing for the hooks and eyes on the left side needs to be reattached about 12 inches. There is soiling on the back hem. The middle layer of ivory silk is in good condition and still soft and supple. If you replaced the under layer, and then replaced the fine silk over layer and reset all of the original lace and satin trim you could use it for display or even to wear. The bidding will start at $0.99 with no reserve.
From Me:
I wouldn't call this an evening gown - actually, I suspect it's a wedding gown based on the appliqués and the color. Either way, it was quite the stunner.
