This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Brown Edwardian Dress
From the seller:
I am offering for auction this wonderful very old well preserved Victorian dress, the dress is in great condition. The dress is in 2 pieces the bodice has hooks that hook to the full skirt. The dress is a golden brown shear silky fabric with a stiff satin under skirt with ruffles and pleats. The dress is embellished with tassels and velvet piping, there is Jacobean embroidery on the front bodice and sleeves, there is a high embroidered neck and embroidery around the bottom of the sleeves. It is finished off with an adorable velvet belt with buckle. The bodice has celluloid stays in the neck line and above the waist line. I can only find minor damage on this dress, there is a little fraying below Jacobean decoration on front of bodice, the lace area looks as though it was originally lined and is not any longer, the underskirt has some staining looks like water stains, all the seems look good. Please view photos if you have any questions feel free to email me. Thank you
Q: Measurements please: Bust Waist Hip Top neck to bottom Skirt waist to hem Thank you. May-05-15
A: Hi, I have come up with some measurements for the dress, using a ruler the bust I measured under the arms is 16" to 161/2 " across The waist I measured at the top of the skirt is 13" The hip I measured at the bottom of the pleats that you can see going around the skirt that measurement is 18" to 20" across From the top of the skirt to the bottom of the hem is 42" From the neckline to the top of the skirt is 18" From the neckline to the bottom of the dress is 60" These measurements are approximate if you need some other measurements or have any other questions please email me. Thanks
From Me:
Edwardian - probably about 1907. I swear, it looks like she took her kitchen curtains a made a dress out of them...
