This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Late 19th/Early 20th Century Men's Folk Shirt
From the seller:
We are pleased to offer here a lovely antique hand- embroidered Shirt.
The textile is rough hand-woven cotton (kenar) and the threads used for embroidery are cotton.
Condition: very good for its age.
Size: L (American size),
the total height is 31",
the circumference at the armpit section is 46".
Enjoy!
From Me:
I love this for a lot of reasons. The cut is exactly the same as what you see in many archeological examples from as early as the stone age. Seriously. Notice it doesn't have gussets? Rather, the arms are inset into the side panels. The high neck makes me think this is probably closer to the Turn of the Century but it is a cute folk style (Eastern European, probably) shirt.
