This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Post American Civil War Bonnet
From the seller:
DESCRIPTION
Truly wonderful antique Victorian Civil War 1860’s era woven bonnet/hat with velvet & ribbon. The base of the hat is a woven straw type material and it is embellished with periwinkle blue ruching on the top of the hat and adorned with blue velvet daisies and ivory velvet leavesand gross grain ribbon bow. It is lined in silk (some age to it) see pictures for details, and ties just under the chin with a blue and gray gross grain ribbon. The ribbon is still in place, but is deteriorating. The original design is still in place and can authentically be repaired. Also the hat has a thin wire to hold its’ shape, that need a couple of stitches to hold it in place.
From Me:
I'm very curious if this bonnet was for half mourning. The flowers look black to me (maybe a faded black, but black) and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the "ivory" was originally white. The bonnet itself fits the later styles that were worn in the early Bustle period.
