This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

1880's Burgundy Velvet Dress
From the seller:
A stunning 1870’s burgundy silk and velvet bustle reception dress. The dress has recently been de-accessioned from a museum collection. The dress is designed in the Princess style. The bodice is made of velvet and has a silk front insert and sleeves. The sleeve cuffs are trimmed with velvet, decorative buttons and bows. The bodice is lined with cotton and has a front button closure. The front of the skirt is a deep shade of dark purple silk. The front panel is gathered and decorated with several burgundy silk bows. The back has a long bustled back sweep. The skirt is trimmed with wide bands of burgundy velvet. The skirt is lined with cotton. The dress is in good vintage display only condition but does have age related flaws. The front insert on the bodice is splitting, there is underarm discoloration and splitting under each arm. Bust 34 Waist 26 Front skirt length 42 back length 62.
From Me:
I love this. I think it's 1880's based on the neckline and sleeves however.
