Late 1830's Sheer Dress

The above fashion plates are from 1837 and 1838, courtesy of the Bartos Collection.  Notice in the one from 1838, the fan front (and back!).  Also, notice the neckline in the dresses from 1837.  The bodice of the extant dress seems too short to me to be 1840's (which were often elongated).  Based on the design and the cut, I believe this to be from the late 1830's.
