1892 Fashion Plate From the Barrington House Collection

This extant outfit is from right before the sleeves went insane. These have just a nice normal little bit of puff - something we'd happily see today on a blouse. However, that little puff, the inside construction (waist tape, bones, ect), the use of fabric (check out that tiny check print silk beneath all this! Talk about an optical illusion!), the little tail on the back of the bodice, and the hint of trim at the cuff all point to an early 1890's construction.
